Richard A. (Dick) Devereaux

Richard A. (Dick) Devereaux, age 49, of McClelland, Iowa, passed away November 23, 2010, at home, surrounded by family. He fought a courageous 13-month battle against lung cancer.

Richard was born December 9, 1960, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Charles and Gloria (Harter) Devereaux. He was a 1979 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School, and was united in marriage to Susan (Eyberg) on May 5, 1979. Richard served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1996. He was a volunteer firefighter with the McClelland Volunteer Fire Department and was currently employed by Union Pacific Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlie and Julia Harter and George and Evelyn Devereaux.

Richard is survived by his wife, Susan, of McClelland; daughters, Rachelle Burress and husband, Shane, of Neola, Iowa, Robin Lobendo and husband, Chad, of Underwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Hannah, Kaley, Aidan Burress, Christian, Brytani, Logan Lobendo; parents, Charles and Gloria Devereaux; brother, Dean Devereaux and wife, Susan; sisters, Julie Lester and husband, Jeff, Kim Whitaker and husband, Richard, all of Council Bluffs; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 27, at Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Arnpriester officiating.

Burial will follow at Downsville Cemetery.
