Evelyn Mahan, 95, of Council Bluffs died May 20 at Indian Hills Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1907, in Guthrie Center to Harry and Edna Lane Mahan. She graduated from Guthrie Center High School and attended college in Indianola. She moved to Omaha and worked for Mutual of Omaha for more than 41 years before retiring in 1971. She then lived in San Clemente, Calif., for more than 20 years, where she volunteered at a children's hospital in Orange County. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1994. She was a longtime member of PEO.

Survivors include her sister, Patricia Hall of Council Bluffs; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center. Beidelman-Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to the Council Bluffs Animal Shelter, 2821 S. 15th St., Council Bluffs IA 51501.
