Mildred Alberta Thompson, 98, of Council Bluffs died May 24 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born July 3, 1904, in St. James, Neb., to Albert H. and Sarah (Gyte) Thompson and graduated from Wynot, Neb., High School in 1920. She was former postmaster and assistant postmaster with her sister, Elsie, in St. James and Wynot. She also worked at Woodward Candy, Max Geisler Bird Co. and Brandeis department store. She sold Watkins products for many years.

She has been an active member of Broadway United Methodist Church since she moved to Council Bluffs in 1934.

Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Elsie Thompson, Mabel Petker and Ella Roush.

Survivors include two nieces, Betty Isenhour and husband, Bob, of Council Bluffs and E. La Vonne Collins and husband, Dick, of Clear Lake; great-nieces and nephews; and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Marvin Arnpriester, pastor at Broadway United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a luncheon following at Broadway United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be offered to Broadway United Methodist Church.
