Phyllis E. Nickerson
12 May 2003Phyllis E. Nickerson, 79, of Council Bluffs died May 10 at Bethany Lutheran Home.
She was born July 23, 1923, to Mark and Irene (Hinman) Savidge in Omaha. She graduated from the University of Chicago.
She was a service representative for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1964 after 19 years of service.
She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church, the Garden Club, Booklovers, Church Circle, and P.E.O. Chapter L.P.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Nickerson, in 1995.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Hiley, and husband, Tim, of Windom, Minn.; a son, Michael Nickerson, and wife, Chris, of Seattle; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Peters, and husband Peter J., of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John Lutheran Church with the Rev. E. Jon Benson officiating. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be offered to Saint John Lutheran Church, Bethany Lutheran Home or the American Cancer Society.
Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
