ROCHESTER, Wash. - The funeral mass for Francis Whitney Wahl, 76, of Rochester, Wash., formerly of Council Bluffs, was held April 2 in Centralia, Wash.

Mr. Wahl died March 27 at Providence-Rosary Manor after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Council Bluffs to Francis and Irene (Whitney) Wahl.

He had lived in Rochester for 49 years. He previously lived in Council Bluffs, Wyoming and Montana. He was a laborer and enjoyed reading and gardening. He enjoyed painting, and he and his father were both self-trained artists. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Chehalis American Legion Post No. 22 and a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores "Dolly" Wahl.

He is survived by a number of cousins, including Joelle Wahl Keizer of Fall City, Wash., and Bill and John "Dick" McMullen.

Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary in Centralia was in charge of arrangements.
