Mary O. Baldwin, 78, of Council Bluffs died May 8 at Alegent Health Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Lansing, Mich., to William and Olive (Dressel) Wahl. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1947. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Worship Center, YMCA and an avid Chicago Cub fan.

Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Baldwin, in 2000 and son, Anthony "Tony" in 1975.

Survivors include seven daughters, Barbara Baker and husband, Tom, of Lincoln, Neb., Beth Knowlton of Cedar Rapids, Susan Walker and husband, Austell, of Omaha, Sally Baldwin of Omaha, Maggie Baldwin of Council Bluffs, Molly Knickerbocker of Omaha and Casey Baldwin of Council Bluffs; three sons, Conrad Baldwin and wife, Linda, of Glenwood, Leo Baldwin and wife, Rhonda, and Christopher Baldwin, all of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Packer, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister-in-law, Theresia Horrum, of Omaha; nieces and nephews.

Rosary recitation will be Sunday at 7 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The body has been cremated; there will be no viewing. Memorial Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Worship Center with the Rev. Ben Kenkel officiating. Burial of ashes will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a lunch following at St. Peter's Social Hall.

Memorials may be offered to Iowa Special Olympics.
