A Council Bluffs family loses a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and "Special Uncle" with death of Michael Ronald Hall, 58, on May 4.

He was born in Omaha on March 31, 1945, to parents Donald Oscar Hall and Dorothy Black Hall. He married Donna Sieburg of Council Bluffs on Dec. 14, 1988, in Dallas, Texas.

Graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1963, he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1967 he worked as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad.

For many years he owned and managed the Longwalk Saloon on Broadway in Council Bluffs. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Club and served as past officer for the Elks.

Mike had a strong patriotic spirit which was evidenced in his military service and his 15 year commitment to placing flags for veterans on Memorial Day and decorating with flags during other holidays. His sense of community was evidenced by organizing the Highway Cleanup during "Pride Week." He loved children and gave many years of his life to helping his brothers and sisters. He also chaired The Swing For The Handicap for many years and benefits for Baby Moore.

Mike is survived by his wife, Donna (Sieburg); stepchildren, Chris Martin and wife, Melissa, of South Carolina and Tracy White of South Carolina; daughter, Kim Radice and husband, Mike, of Council Bluffs; sons, Kerry Hall and wife, Theresa, and Kory Hall and wife, Lois, all of Council Bluffs and Kenny Hall and wife, Sharon, of Boston; mother, Dorothy Black Hall of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Donald Hall and wife, Carole, of Flower Mound, Texas, William Hall and wife, June, of Las Vegas; five sisters, Susan Schreffler and husband, Bruce, of Kankakee, Ill., Claudia Besco and husband, Andrew, of Council Bluffs; Ramona Bracker and husband, Monte, of Neola, Diane Revels and husband, Horace, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Patricia Krause and husband, Don, of Bourbonnais, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunts, Ruby Caskey and Norma Lorenzen of Council Bluffs and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father; one brother, Stephen Craig; and one nephew, Philip Hall.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Shawn Oberg officiating. Elks Lodge Service will be held. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by Rainbow Post No. 2, American Legion, followed by a family gathering at the Elks Club.
