Joe D. Hunter

Joe D. Hunter, 79, of Council Bluffs died April 23 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was a graduate of Drake University. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1986 from Iowa Power & Light Company. He was a member of Broadway Methodist Church and Electricians Union, where he was the chief steward during his career at Iowa Power & Light Company.

Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his son, Roger.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; sons, Joe Hunter Jr. and wife, Deana, and Scott Hunter and wife, Eileen; daughters, Kathleen Elaine, Ramona Lee and husband, Bradley Pope, Melonie Jorth, Maureen Allene and Shelly Kay; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Broadway Methodist Church. Burial of ashes will be in Mt. Evans, Colo. McCurdy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
