Mary L. Rhodes

Mary L. Rhodes, 78, of Council Bluffs died April 26 at her home after a four-year illness.

She was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Cincinnati, Iowa, to Ray Roy and Bessie (Van Blairicome) Milford and graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1942. She was a packer at Frito-Lay for 13 years and had lived in Council Bluffs for 52 years.

Mrs. Rhodes and her husband, Clayton, had been married for 52 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three daughters, S. Carol Dewaele and husband, Ceil, Ella Rhodes and Melody Churchill and husband Joseph, all of Council Bluffs; four sons, Clayton Jr. and wife, Donna, of Crescent and Lester and wife Pamela, Arthur and wife. Alaine, and Dusty and wife, Starr, all of Council Bluffs; five sisters, June Clay of Arizona City, Ariz., Mae White of Wellman, Pauline Smith of Unionville, Mo., Lois Hinton and husband, Albert, of Washington and Sharon Smithberg of Iowa City; three brothers, Ralph Milford and wife, Donna, of Smyrna, Tenn., Tommy Milford of Centerville and Bobby Wayne Milford of South English; 27 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Prescott officiating.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
