Oma D. Diercks

Funeral for Oma Darlene Diercks, 84, of Council Bluffs will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. E. Jon Benson Pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Diercks died April 10 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1919 in Pacific Junction to William King Sr. and Luella Fitch. She was a 1936 graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School with honors. She was a time keeper for Union Pacific Railroad for 20 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of the Democratic party.

Mrs. Diercks and her husband, Gerald, were married 65 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters, Judith Kinney and Kelly Wolterman and husband, Mark, both of Omaha; two sons, Mark of Omaha and Garry and wife, Marlene, of LaVista, Neb.; two granddaughters, Teresa Fritts and Melissa Diercks both of Florida; grandson, Patrick Kinney, of Omaha; sister-in-law, Phyllis King, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery with luncheon to follow back at church.

Memorials may be offered to St. John Church and American Lung Association.
