Sam O'Bradovich

Sam O'Bradovich, 87, of Council Bluffs died March 29 at his home. He was a lifelong Council Bluffs resident.

Mr. O'Bradovich was born Jan. 21, 1916, to Nicholas and Janja (Potkonjak) O'Bradovich. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a boilermaker and welder on the Union Pacific Railroad for 49 years until his retirement. After retirement, he continued to work as a welder at Morrison Railway.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Union Pacific Oldtimers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737, Council Bluffs Eagles Club No. 104 and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes K., who died May 9, 1992, his parents, his sisters, Mildred, Helen and Ruby O'Bradovich, Bessie Rogers, Anne Morsch and a foster sister, Millie Pospisal.

Survivors include a sister, Mary O'Bradovich, of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Robert and wife, Boots, Joe and wife, Geraldine, Steve and wife, Winona, all of Council Bluffs; foster relatives Ted and Rita Argintean of Valley, Neb., and Silvera Evanoff of Omaha; friends Louie and Virginia Caparelli of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with visitation to follow.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Omaha with the Rev. Vojislav Dosenovich officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park with military rites by VFW Post No. 737 and a luncheon at St. Nicholas Serbian Church in Omaha.

Memorials may be offered to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church.
