In Memory: A. W. Johnny Moffatt

Funeral for A.W. Johnny Moffatt, 80, of Mondamin was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley with Evangelist John Lizer officiating.

Mr. Moffatt died January 8 at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley.

He was born January 23, 1920, in Neola to George B. and Lois (Whitmore) Moffatt. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated a truck garden in the Mondamin area, raising fruits and vegetables. He also did concrete work and home repairs and built homes.

Mr. Moffatt and his wife, Helen (Breeling), were married November 16, 1957.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Kim Reiger of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Jean Stewart and husband, Pat, of Ashland, Nebraska; two sons, Gene Moffatt and wife, Mary, of Council Bluffs and Mike Arndt and wife, Rose, of Seattle; three sisters, Joyce Cook and Bonnie Kaullen, both of Neola, and Helen Jacobsen of Missouri Valley; a brother, George, of Neola; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Calhoun Cemetery at Missouri Valley, followed by lunch and fellowship at the Mondamin Community Hall.

Memorials may be offered to the Logan and Mondamin Rescue.
