Johnny Smith

OAKLAND - The funeral for Johnny Smith, 71, of Oakland will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland.

Mr. Smith died March 5 at the Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines.

He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Cedar Falls to Kuhny and Sena (Siems) Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Addie Mae Smith, of Oakland; five children, their spouses and 13 grandchildren: James Smith and wife, June, and their sons, Joshua, Michael and Lucas, of Mount Ayr; Scott Smith and wife, Claudia, and their children, Kaitlyn, Tucker, Colleen and Jackson of Urbandale; Roger Smith and wife, Jeni, and their sons, Thatcher and Beckett of Grayson, Ga.; Lynelle Mikkelsen and husband, Paul, and their daughters, Bailey, Maddie, Lauren and Claire of Adel; and Suzanne Downs and husband, Randy, of Des Moines; sisters and brother, Annabelle Magee, Corlene Crane, and David Zeiner.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland.

Memorials may be offered to the Oakland United Methodist Church or the Kavanagh House Hospice, 900 56th St., Des Moines.
