In Memory: Donald Adams

Donald Lee Adams, 64, of Shelby died Saturday, December 7 at home.

He was born July 9, 1938 in Oskaloosa. He was a 1957 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee and served in Newfoundland, Greece, Puerto Rico and other areas. He was a crane operator for Alter Trading Co. in Council Bluffs, was a member of the Shelby Fire Department. He was a member of Christian Motorcyclist Association, Gold Wing Touring Association, Retreads of Iowa Motorcycle Club and First Assembly of God Church in Harlan.

Mr. Adams and his wife, Elaine, were married 37 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, John of Concord, California, and Thomas and his wife, Melinda of Laramie, Wyoming; mother, Irene Adams, of Oskaloosa; five sisters, Donna and her husband, Junior Meyers of Colona, Illinois, Janice and her husband, Ron Katko of Eddyville, DeAnn and her husband, Jim Harsh of Ankeny, Twyla and her husband, Benny Pool of Ava, Missouri, and Dixie and her husband, James Miller of Phoenix.

Don was preceded in death by his father, John and his stepfather Loren Adams.

Visitation with the family was held Monday evening at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Services were held Tuesday, December 10 at 1:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Harlan. Officiating were Rev. Al Hazelton, Rev. Jim Burnette, Rev. Jeff Kraft, Rev. Bob Thompson, Rev. Gary Magill and Rev. Dan Fitzpatrick.

Burial was in the Shelby Cemetery
