In Memory: Dean Donaldson

Dean 0. Donaldson, 70, of Council Bluffs died June 11 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1930 in Avoca to Arlie and Elda Donaldson and had lived in Council Bluffs for 40 years.

He graduated from Oakland High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He also served in the Nebraska National Guard for 16 years.

Mr. Donaldson worked overseas in sales for AT&T, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Dodge Memorial Congregational Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737 and American Legion Post No. 2.

He and his wife Virginia (Andersen) were married 48 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Carolyn Waters and her husband Rick and Laura Romano and her husband Paul, all of Council Bluffs, and Deanise Pollard and her husband Rockey L. of DeMotte, Indiana; two sons, Dave and his wife Susan of McClelland and Doug and his wife Courtney of Council Bluffs; his mother, Elda Donaldson of Oakland; three brothers including his twin, Darol, of Omaha, Richard and his wife Rhea of Davis, California, and Terry and his wife Colleen of Lockport, Illinois; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was to be held Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at Beem-Belford Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

Funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Virginia Doherty, pastor of Dodge Memorial, officiating.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland with military rites conducted by the Oakland VFW Post.

Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society or Dodge Memorial Congregational Church.
