Council Bluffs, Ia., July 11--John Mass, aged 24 years, died in a hospital here last night from tetanus caused by the explosion of a giant firecracker at Hancock, Ia., July 4. He picked up the cracker, supposing the fuse had gone out, and it exploded in his hand, tearing one finger off and otherwise lacerating the hand. The injury was at first thought trivial. Symptoms of tetanus were observed Monday and Mass was sent here.
