ANAHEIM, Calif. - Ray T. Smith, 81, of Anaheim, Calif., died Feb. 5 after quadruple bypass surgery.
He was a longtime resident and service station owner of Council Bluffs until he and his family moved to Anaheim in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honored with four medals and an honorable discharge on Dec. 26, 1945.
Survivors include his beloved wife Elizabeth of 60 years; three daughters, Janice Grubb of Missouri Valley, Catherine Denison of Anaheim and Rita Denman of Placentia, Calif.; three brothers, Jim Smith of Arvada, Colo., Ben Smith of Malvern and Tom Williamson of Keokuk; three sisters, Ella Mae Points of Council Bluffs, Betty Mae Christo of Logan and Nancy Earleywine of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends.
Graveside services for family members was Feb. 10 at Anaheim Cemetery with military rites given with a three-gun salute and the folding of the flag from his casket, which was presented to his wife.
