In Memory: Ada Leaders

Ada Alma Leaders, 94, died Tuesday, November 14 at Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa.

She was born February 21, 1906 at Hancock, Iowa, the son of Adam Christian and Katharine Kiesel Eckert.

She graduated from Oakland High School in 1923 and was a rural schoolteacher and homemaker. She lived in Minden before moving to Council Bluff's in 1954. Her husband, Edward, died in 1986.

Mrs. Leaders belonged to Salem United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Dorcas Circle at Salem and was a member of the Council Bluffs Federated Women's Club.

Ada Leaders was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters, her son Darwin in 1997 and an infant grandson in 1957.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Leaders of Papillion, Nebraska; daughter-in-law Jeanette Leaders of Minden; grandson Douglas and his wife LuAnn of Hancock; granddaughter Deborah and her husband Brad Lundeen of Minden, Nebraska; granddaughter Susan and her husband; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Funeral was Friday at 10:30 A.M.. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Woosner and the Rev. Judy Flanegin officiating.

Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society or the Visiting Nurse Association.
