In Memory: David Nelson

David Nelson, 68, of rural Oakland died November 4 at his home.

Mr. Nelson was born in rural Anita and was a 1951 graduate of Shelby High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a farmer and also raised and trained horses. He was a member of the Avoca American Legion Post No. 221.

He was married to his wife, Margie, for 44 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Shenandoah and Harold of Mazeppa, Minnesota; one daughter, Sherry Nelson of Euless, Texas; three sisters, LaVere Andersen of Avoca, Louene Palmer of Clara City, Minnesota and Darlene Andersen and her husband, Marlin, of Avoca.

Visitation was Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. Burial was at Dalmanutha Cemetery near Casey.
