In Memory: Emma Schoening

The funeral for Emma Margaret Schoening, 86, of Oakland was held Friday at 10:30 A.M. at United Methodist Church in Oakland with the Rev. John Boatman officiating.

Mrs. Schoening died April 16 at Oakland Manor in Oakland. She was born in Treynor and previously lived in Carson. She moved to Oakland in June 2001. She was homemaker and known in the area for her hand-painted china. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, served in Administrative Council and was a member of the United Methodist Women, past member of Carson United Methodist Church and UMW, Columbia Club at Oakland, charter member and past president of the WIGS Hobby Club at Carson, member and past president of the Woman's Civic Club at Carson, member and past president of the Friendly Folks Senior Citizens at Carson. She sang in the Friendly Folks Choir during its existence and played in the kitchen band at the Oakland Senior Center.

Mrs. Schoening was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Everett on January 12, 1995.

Survivors include one son, the Rev. Dale Schoening, and wife, Mitzi, of Stratford; three grandsons nieces; nephews; cousins.

Visitation with the family was held at Hertz Funeral Home in Carson. Burial was in Carson Cemetery.
