In Memory: Michael Dell Long

Michael Dell Long, 30, of Walnut, died Friday, September 29, 2000 along with his daughter Ashlie as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Walnut.

Michael was born on August 14, 1970 in Marshalltown, one of four children in the family of Larry and Jacqueline Daniels Long.

He attended school in Shelby and later received his GED. Michael drove a truck for a living and was a big fan of Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Jacqueline Long of Shelby; children, Anthony and Brandon Carlson of Walnut; sister, Tami Bowers of Shelby; brothers Jeff Long and his wife Lana of Walnut and Aaron Long and his wife Liane of Garner; maternal grandparents Bob and Jean Brasch of Marshalltown; paternal grandparents, Charles and Marylouise Long of Marshalltown; special friend Renee Tichota and her daughter Shelby of Atlantic; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening at Knutson Funeral Home in Walnut.

Funeral ceremonies were held Wednesday morning at Calvary Baptist Church in Walnut with Pastor Paul Hutchins officiating. Interment was in the Walnut Cemetery.
