In Memory: Jean M. French

Jean Marie French, 74, of Council Bluffs died October 15 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born March 29, 1926, to Charles and Cecil "Ruby" (Evans) Rief in Council Bluffs, and she lived all her life in Council Bluffs. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1944. She was a bookkeeper and computer operator for Pottawattamie Mutual Insurance Association for 29 years, retiring in March of 1994, and was named treasurer in 1986. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Mrs. French and her husband, William R., were married April 18, 1952.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Peggy Johnston, of Treynor; two sons, Robert French of Council Bluffs and Jack Nolan of Farmington, N.M.; two sisters, Kathryn Schmitz and husband, Herman, of Murphys, California and Darlene Kabala of Burlingame, California; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 P.M. at Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gus--George; pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by lunch at the church.

Memorials may be offered to the church.
