Funeral services for Richard Finn Atkinson, who died monday, April 26 at the home of his sister, Mrs. R. H. Carse, were held Thursday afternoon at the Church of Christ here. Rev. Fred Coley, Pastor of the Broadway Christian Church of Council Bluffs, and Rev. LaVerne Morris were in charge of the services.

Richard Finn Atkinson, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel K. Atkinson, was born on the Mound Spring farm near Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa, February 25, 1869, and departed this life Monday morning, April 26, 1937, aged 68 years 9 months and one day. He had suffered intensely from cardiac asthma for the last ten years, and had been in especially poor health for about a week, but death released him suddenly and peacefully a few minutes after ten o'clock on Monday morning.

"Dick" as he was best known, moved, at the age of seven years, with his parents and sisters to Pottawattamie County and spent his boyhood on farms west of Oakland. On new Years day, 1893, he was married to Miss Pearl Woodrow of Audubon. They spent their early married life in Audubon and Adams Counties, returning later to Oakland. They lived before establishing themselves in Council Bluffs where they made their home for 34 years, six years of which Mr. Atkinson was in charge of circulation for the Council Bluffs office of the Omaha Daily News.

He was affiliated with the Mehodist church in Adams, County, and at one time was affiliated with several Council Bluffs lodges, having been especially active in the Woodmen and Macabee lodges there.

Of late, he has spent winter months in Oakland with his sister, Mrs. R. H. Carse, at whose home he died.

He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Mrs. Pearl Atkinson of Council Bluffs; one sister, Mrs. Harriett Carse, of Oakland; one brother, John M. Atkinson of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, numerous nieces and nephews.
