CARL A. ATKINSON

Carl A. Atkinson, 72, 309 E.
Pierce St., died Jan. 16 at
Mercy Hospital.

He was born at Macedonia and had
lived in Council Bluffs most of his life.
Mr. Atkinson was a gas transport
truck driver for 40 years, retiring in
1987. He had worked for the Transit
Co. and for Petroleum Transport Co.

Mr. Atkinson was a member of the
Valley View Baptist Church and the
American Association of Retired
Persons.

He and his wife, Anna Lee Larsen
Atkinson, had been married for 47
years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife
include two daughters, Nancy Nelson
of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Janie Her-
rick of Council Bluffs; six sons, Den-
nis of Colorado Springs, Colo.,
Richard and Joseph, both of Council
Bluffs, Douglas of San Antonio, Tex-
as, Jim of Dallas, Texas, and Jeffrey,
at Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister,
Marjorie Busse, of Council Bluffs; 18
grandchildren, aunts, nieces, and
nephews.

Funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m.
at Meyer Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Thomas Shirley of Valley View
Baptist Church officiating. Burial
will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be
Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at
the funeral home.

Memorials may be offered to the
Valley View Baptist Church or the
Council Bluffs Library Fund.
