Hazel E. Grieder

Hazel Elizabeth Grieder, 88, of Council Bluffs died Feb. 12 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Defiance to John and Mary E. (Bierback) Twomey. She previously lived in Neola, moving to Council Bluffs more than 60 years ago. She worked as bookkeeper and salesperson at JCPenney for 10 years.

Mrs. Grieder was preceded in death by her husband, C. Pat, in 2001 and her son, Ralph, in 1990.

Survivors include five daughters, Joann Barrier of Council Bluffs, Mary Pat Schierbrock and husband, Jerry, of Neola, Rose Zita Adams and husband, Tom, of Tuttle, Okla., Connie Shriver and husband, Jerry, of Council Bluffs and Pauline Roll and husband, Vern, of Santa Paula, Calif.; one son, Leroy, and wife, Marilyn, of Council Bluffs; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Neola Fire & Rescue.
