In Memory: Devee Donohoe

Funeral for Devee "Bill" Donohoe, 83, of Marshalltown was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Walnut Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut with the Rev. Guy Fisher officiating. Burial, with military rites was presented by Walnut VFW Post #45 and American Legion Post #422, in the Walnut Cemetery.

Mr. Donohoe died May 19 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown.

He was born in Anita and was a 1934 graduate of Walnut High School. He previously had lived in Atlantic and Exira, where he was a resident of the Exira Care Center.

During WW II, from 1941 to 1946, he served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Walnut VFW Post #45 and American Legion Post #422. He worked as a custodian for Walnut Schools for 26 years. He was a member of the Walnut Fire Department for many years.

Mr. Donohoe and his wife, Patricia, were married 49 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Olga and a brother Elmond.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Darcie Snyder of Tampa, Florida, Patty O'Neill and husband, Dan of Minden and Tammy Glenn and husband, Joel, of Atlantic; two sons, Terry and wife, Sandy, of Norfolk and Billy of Avoca and nine grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held at the Knutson Funeral Home in Walnut.
