In Memory: Stanley G. Thomas

Funeral for Stanley G. Thomas, 87, of Council Bluffs was held Monday at 11 A.M. at Cutler Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Russell, pastor of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.

Mr. Thomas died April 18 at the Loess Hills Nursing Home.

He was born October 3, 1913, in Council Bluffs to Frederick and Nelle (Miller) Thomas and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1931. He farmed in the Harden Township area. He was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church and had served as president of the Methodist Men's group, was a member of Farm Bureau and the Kanesville Kiwanis Club. He had been active in 4 H.

Mr. Thomas and his wife, Gertrude M. (Luett), were married 60 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Ronald E. and wife, Norma, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Jon F. and wife, Ann, of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Corrine Thomas of Lavonia, Michigan, Maude Stupfell and husband, Donald, of Council Bluffs and Dorothy Gatrost and husband, Jack, of Orchard Lake, Michigan; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial was in the Harden Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Mount Hope United Methodist Church.
