In Memory: Carl Williams

Carl Williams, 94, of Oakland and formerly of Carson, died April 27 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Williams was born January 16, 1907, in rural Macedonia. He attended rural schools at Oakland, Hancock, Macedonia, Carson and Pisgah. He was later employed as a hired hand for various farmers in the Carson area.

He married Blanche Carr on January 29, 1936, in Council Bluffs. They worked as hired hands before starting their own farm in the mid 1940's. They moved to Carson in 1957. He then was employed with Pottawattamie County Road Systems. He retired in 1973. He moved to Oakland Manor in 1999.

He was a member of the Carson Presbyterian Church.

Carl was preceded in death by one brother, Lee Williams.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Lyle and his wife, Tami of Underwood; two daughters, Velda Husz and husband, Lowell, of Oakland and Verda Orellana and husband, Mario, of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Open visitation was at Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Carson Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Grove Cemetery in Carson.
