In Memory: Sarah Gathers

The funeral for Sarah A. Schnackenberg Gathers, 27, of Crescent was planned for Thursday at 10 A.M. at McCurdy Funeral Home. Friends Amy Bradley will conduct services.

Mrs. Gathers died January 6 of leukemia. She was born in Council Bluffs. She previously lived in Sumter, S.C., for five years. She graduated from Underwood High School and then Stewart School of Hair Design. She worked as a cosmetologist for Regis in Sumter, N.C., and attended First Christian Church.

Mrs. Gathers and her husband Rubin C. were married six years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include one daughter, Hannah Marie Ann Gathers; one son, Rubin C. Gathers Jr.; parents, Don and Janice Schnackenberg, of Crescent; two brothers, Mark Schnackenberg and wife, Karen, of Missouri Valley, and David Schnackenberg and wife, Beckie, of Council Bluffs; grandmother, Helen Birchard, of Council Bluffs; aunts; uncles; cousins.

Visitation with the family was planned Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hazel Dell Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established at Peoples National Bank for Rubin Jr. and Hannah Gathers College Fund.
