Mrs. Jean Tittsworth, 85, resident of this community for some 60 years and the last surviving Civil War widow in this community died at her home here Monday afternoon after an illness of 14 days. Death was due to senility.

Mrs. Tittsworth was the mother of former Deputy Sheriff William Tittsworth and was the mother-in-law of Theodore Kenney, now deputy district court clerk here.

A native of Scotland, she was a pioneer in Wyoming before ‘coming east” to Avoca some three score years ago.

She was a charter member of the American Legion auxiliary and was active in Eastern Star work.

Surviving is one son, William; two daughters, Mrs. Joe True and Mrs. Keeney all of Avoca.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 pm at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Howard Lindquist officiating. Blust funeral home is in charge. The family has requested no flowers.
