Mrs. Fred (Anna Scheffler) Stude 1875-1946

Mrs. Anna Stude, daughter of Conrad Scheffler and his wife, Lena Pepin was born in Steatro, Illinois on September 13, 1875 and was called in death from her home 7 miles southwest of Avoca last Thursday morning, April 25, 1946 having reached the age of 70 years, 7 months, and 12 days.

Mrs. Stude grew to womanhood in Illinois, coming with her parents at the age of about 19 years to settle in the southwest Avoca community.

On November 29, 1899 she was married to Fred Stude. For about five years they lived in the Portsmouth neighborhood then they moved to the present farm home, which thus has been the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stude for nearly 42 years.

Mr. Stude preceded his wife last January 11, as also their only son-in-law, Joe Hardymartin in December of 1945. Mrs. Stude was a great admirer of flowers and loved to spend her spare time with needlecraft. She was much given to hospitality, ever more concerned about others needs as those of her own. There remain to mourn her passing: two daughters: Mrs. Mabel Hardymartin of Council Bluffs; Ada, who was at home caring for her folks; two grandsons: Fred and Bob Hardymartin of Council Bluffs; four sisters: Mrs. Minne Brewis of Steator, Illinois; Mrs. Katie Fixel of Anthon, Iowa; Mrs. Lilly Jarrett of Ora Grande, California; Mrs. Fredia Haas of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three brothers: Herman Scheffler of Hancock, harry Scheffler of Persia; Fred Scheffler of San Pedro, California; and infant son, Elmer and two brothers, William and Conrad have preceded her in death.
