Frank August Wunder
(August 8, 1889 - 1945)

Frank Wunder, 56, farmer, was found hanging Thursday afternoon in the barnon his farm a mile and half northeast of Minden. Investigators said that Wunder had taken his own life.

A brother, Herman Wunder, with whom he operated the farm, had been to Minden attending a funeral and upon returning home found Frank’s body hanging in the barn.

Members of the family said that Wunder had been despondent due to the death of his son, Lt. Frank Wunder, Jr., first reported missing in action and later reported killed in the Pacific war zone. He was Minden’s first war casualty.

Other survivors are his widow, Eola; a son, Robert, in the services; twins, Eldon and Eleanor at home and five sisters: Mrs. Fritz Schuning, Martha Wunder, Mrs. E. Wise and Mrs. Clarence Hintz, all of Avoca and Mrs. Robert Turner living in Texas.

Funeral services were held in Minden Sunday with burial in Graceland cemetery in Avoca.
