Jens Marius Rasmussen 1861-1945

Jens Marius Rasmussen was born March 28, 1861 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rasmussen in Lolland, Denmark and passed into the eternal June 19, 1945.

He was married on March 29, 1881 to Margaret Jorgensen and in September of the same year came to the United States, settling in Lyons, Michigan, remaining there for three years.

They then came to Avoca, which community has since been his home, for a number of years he did common labor, then for some 30 years farmed in the South Avoca community, for the past 15 his present home on South Chestnut Street was the place of his abode.

There remain to mourn his death: four sons, Peter, John, and Herold all of Avoca and Victor of Auburn, Nebraska; three daughters: Mrs. Dorethea Wineland, Miss Hulda Rasmussen and Carrie Sorensen all of Avoca; 7 great grandchildren, and an only sister, Mrs. Chris Olsen, age 86, in Canada, a son, Carl, and a daughter, Hilda, have precede him in death.
