Mrs. Jens (Leona Rock) Petersen 1906-circa 1944

Funeral services for Mrs. Jens Petersen, 38, of Shelby were held at the Blust Brothers Funeral home in Avoca, Saturday, September 29 at 2 pm with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Petersen died at a Council Bluffs hospital, Wednesday September26 following the birth of a still born child. She is survived by her husband, four children: Delorace, Norman, Judith, and Beverly; her mother, Mrs. Julius Rock; three brothers: John, Louis and Herman; three sisters: Mrs. Elsie Jels, Mrs. Olga Krohn, and Mrs. Clara Holtz besides other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Petersen was born the daughter of Julius and Wilhelmina Rock on October 26, 1906 in Valley township. She lived the greater part of her life in Shelby county where she attended school. On January 14, 1931 she was united in marriage to Jens Petersen by Rev. J.P. Wagner, living all their married life on the farm.

Rev. G.B. Baumann, pastor of the congregational church in Minden officiated at the services here Saturday.. Music was by ladies Quartette of the same church.
