Mrs. Ida Rebecca Pape Lemkau Meitzen 1875-

Last rites for Mrs. Albert c. Meitzen were held at the First Congregational church here Tuesday afternoon, December 12th with the Rev. Ivan C. Bachtell in charge of the services. Interment was in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Meitzen died at Doctor’s hospital in Omaha, Saturday December 9, following a short illness. For the past few years she has made her home in Omaha with her daughter, Mrs. Esther Hoppens.

Mrs. Meitzen was born Ida Rebecca Pape on February 13, 1875 at Topeka, Kansas. She was married to August Lemkau July 3, 1896. They moved to Avoca from Denver, Colorado in March of 1920. Mr. Lemkau was pastor of the German Congregational church here until his death on April 29, 1923.

On December 23, 1926, she was united in marriage to Albert Meitzen, who was president of the Citizens Savings Bank. Mr. Meitzen died on October 21, 1927.

Mrs. Meitzen was vitally interested in making a good home for her family and was active in the first congregational church here of which she was a member.

She is survived by a son, Frank Lemkau of clay Center, Nebraska; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Hoppens of Omaha, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
