In Memory: Wayne Peters

Wayne Carl Peters, 86, of Logan, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

He was born July 17, 1915 in rural Boomer Township to Carl B. and Rose (Peterson) Peters.

He attended school in Crescent and lived in the Logan, Crescent and Woodbine areas all his life. Wayne was a longtime farmer in the Logan area.

Wayne married his longtime sweetheart Esther Rief on August 17, 1938. Their three children were Arvin, Debbie and a son, Norvin, who died as an infant.

Wayne spent his entire life active in the farming community and the Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife Esther of Logan; son Arvin and wife Jannes of Council Bluffs; daughter Debbie Leonard and husband mike of Logan; sister-in-law Ida Peters of Carter Lake; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Norvin, three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan. Funeral services were to be Wednesday, March 27 at 1 P.M. in the Logan Memorial Chapel with Pastor Connie O. McWilliams of the Community of Christ Church in Persia officiating. Burial was to be in the Grange Cemetery at Honey Creek.
