In Memory: Dwayne Eckert Schroder
Dwayne Eckert Schroder, 76, of Hancock died at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs on Wednesday, March 6, 2002.
He was born on March 20, 1925 in rural Hancock, one of two sons of Aaron and Mina Eckert Schroder. He attended country school, Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and Hancock High School, were he graduated with the Class of 1942.
Dwayne worked as a farmer all of his life, farming in the rural Hancock area. He married Dorothy McAlpine on May 7, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas. They have three children: Twyla, Kenneth and Donald.
Dwayne was a member of the Silver Creek United Methodist Church, was Past master of Masonic Lodge #335, Scottish Rite Valley of Omaha, Tangier Shrine Temple, Past Patron of Eastern Star #425, Past President of Botrna Valley Shrine Club, a member of the Pork Producers, on the Farm Bureau County Committee, a member of the Harlan Eightball Flying Club and the Oakland Flying Club, partnering with Kenneth Martin and Roy Schultz.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; their daughter Twyla Shaffer of Norwich, New York; two sons, Kenneth Schroder of Neola and Donald Schroder of Hancock; six grandchildren, Stacy, Christina, Cayla, Justin, Emily and Levi; one great grandchild; a brother, Paul Schroder and his wife Carolyn of Hancock; his step-mother, Margaret Schroder of Minden; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral ceremonies were held at the Knutson Funeral Chapel in Avoca on Sunday, March 10 at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Judy Flanegin, pastor of the Silver Creek United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment was at Silver Valley Cemetery, Hancock, Iowa.
