Mrs. Mattie Birney Miller

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Birney Miller, 83, were held Saturday afternoon at the Blust Bros. funeral home at Avoca with the Rev. Ivan Bachtell in charge. Mrs. Miller, a long time resident of Hancock and Avoca died Wednesday at her apartment in Avoca after a lingering illness.

Born February 22, 1863, at Galesburg, Illinois, and spent most of her life in or near Hancock. Special music for the services were two songs by soloist Maurice Schmidt accompanied by Mrs. Lilly Schmidt. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Alvin Beatty, Mrs. Art Kone and Mrs. Agnes Duprey. Pallbearers were Austin Gress, Alvin Beatty, Frank Gross, Guy Donaldson, Art Sinclair and Clarence Larson. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery at Hancock.
