Ruth I. Shipley

Ruth I. Shipley, 88, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 29 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born April 26, 1914, in Portland, Ore., to Charles R. and Hazel (McKeen) Millard. She was a 1933 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She was a homemaker. She formerly served as president of Mardi Gras in Council Bluffs. She was a member of Council Bluffs Service League and D.A.R. She was also a former member of City Health Board.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Hanson and husband, Jack, of Council Bluffs, Marla Grinstead and husband, Larry, of New Boston, Mich., and Susan Spetman and husband, John, of Vancouver, Wash.; one son, Randal Shipley, and wife, Betsy, of Council Bluffs; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.

The body has been cremated. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Prayer service will be Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Lowell Knauss officiating.

Memorials may be offered to the Alzheimer's Association.
