Herbert Carl Wasser 1902-1921
PHOTO AVAILABLEHerbert Carl Wasser, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Wasser, was born at Avoca, Iowa, June 16, 1902 and passed to his reward, Wednesday, June 19, 1921, aged nineteen years and thirteen days.
Herbert spent his youthful days at the farm home just west of Avoca. He attended our public schools and graduated from the Avoca high schools at the age of seventeen in May 1920.
He renewed his baptismal covenant, made in early childhood, by confirmation, April 22, 1917, in the Lutheran church of Avoca. He remained true to his vows until death firmly believing in Christ, his Saviour.
Herbert was taken ill with nephritis last October and was bed fast most of the time since then. All that loving hands and earthly care could do was done for him, but God had need of him more than his dear ones here and he passed peacefully away, to enter into his rewards.
Herbert was ever of cheerful, sunny disposition, ever patient. He bore all his suffering without a murmur. A kind and loving son and brother, ever thoughtful of others, has gone on before. His smile and kind word will be missed in the home and among his friends, whom he numbered by his acquaintances.
He leaves to mourn his early departure his parents and two sisters; Mrs. Carrie Quirk and Miss Lillie Wasser besides a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held on Saturday July 2, at 2:00 pm from the Lutheran church at Avoca, Rev O. C. Bliese, his pastor officiating. Six of his former classmates bore the remains to their last resting place on earth in the Avoca cemetery.
To the bereaved family the community extends its sincerest sympathy.
