Mrs. Bert Sarvis 1899-1918

Fern Lydia Ward was born at Lewis, Iowa, February 9, 1899, died November 27, 1918 at 8:30 am aged 19 years, 9 months, and 18 days. In 1908 she moved with her parents to Walnut, Iowa where she resided until her marriage April 19, 1917 to Albert O. Sarvis of this city. To this union was born one child, a baby daughter.

She leaves to mourn her early death, her husband and daughter, a father, mother, and one sister and a number of friends.

Owing to the prevalence of the Flue only short services were held at the cemetery, the husband being unable to attend on account of being ill with the Flu.

At the age of nine years she united with the Christian church of Lewis. She was an ideal daughter, a dutiful loyal wife, and a devoted mother.

With a cheery smile and wave of the hand
She wandered into an unknown land
Think of her then, as faring on, as dear in the love of there as in the love of here
Think of her still as the same, I say,
She is not dead, she is just away.
