Funeral rites for Mrs. Scott held Thursday

Mrs. Richard Scott, 42, a life long resident of East Pottawattamie county, was buried Thursday afternoon in the Macedonia cemetery. Rev. Geral LaMott officiated at the services in the Methodist Church.

She died Wednesday of last week at the Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs after a serious illness of ten weeks.

Thelma Fern Scott was born on Jan 28, 1910 to Charlie and May DeBolt near Oakland. When she was fie her father died and her mother moved the family to Macedonia to make their home with Gideon DeBolt, the children's grandfather. She graduated from the Macedonia school.

For two years, she attended the state teacher's college at Cedar Falls. Afterward, she taught in the Carson consolidated school for five years and at several other schools in nearby communities.

She married Richard Scott of Macedonia and to this union two sons, Larry Merritt and Mark Payton were born. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Macedonia Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the LDT club.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Larry and Mark; three step-sons, Richard and Max of Macedonia and Burl of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo; her mother, Mrs. May DeBolt of Carson and two brothers, Charles and Paul of Carson.

Pallbearers were J. S. Crisler, Carl Plumer, Carl Schroeder, Milburn Harvey, Harold Bruning and Fred Keast. Music was given by Mrs. Carl Forristall and Mrs. James Canoyer with Mrs. Carl Hatwell at the organ. Mrs. Milburn Harvey, Mrs. Ivan Edie, Mrs. Elwood Sperry and Mrs. Neil Thomas were is charge of the flowers.
