Gus Diederick received word Sunday evening announcing the death of his brother, Carl Diederick, at his home in Long Beach, California.

Carl Diederick was born and raised in Avoca where he made his home until seventeen years ago, when he moved with his family to California.

Carl Diederick was one of the Diederick boys who owned and operated the Diederick Sons Mercantile Store in Avoca for several years.
