MRS. CHRIS ROCK 1864-1947

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Rock, 83, who died at her home southwest of Avoca Sunday night were held from the First Lutheran Church here Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm with Reverend Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Rock was born the daughter of Chris Rock and his wife, Wihelminia Rock in Scott county, Iowa on March 5, 1864.

On March 5, 1885, she was married to Chris Rock at Davenport where they made their home for the next four years. In 1889, they came with their family to Avoca and purchased the present Rock farm and made it their home.

Mrs. Rock is survived by three daughters: Mrs. John sick, Mrs. Herman Holtz, and Mrs. Henry Dittmer all of Avoca and eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Gustave Greve of Dixon also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband on October 28, 1936; a daughter, Caroline; two sons, Arthur, on March 1, 1922 and Alfred on November 3, 1946; two sisters and two brothers have also preceded her in death.
