FRED SCHREIBER 1865-1929

Ferdinand Earnest Schreiber was born in Salgendale, Klein Schmalkaden, Kurhessen, Germany on October 15, 1865 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eugene Bunnell Tuesday, September 10, aged 63 years, 10 months and 25 days.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon, September 12, at the Blust Funeral Home with interment in the Avoca cemetery.

Mr. Schreiber came to America with his parents when quite young, locating at Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Later he came to Avoca where he followed the occupation of farming. He was united in marriage to Miss Clara B. Robinson, December 17, 1899, at Avoca, Iowa. Here they resided until the death of Mrs. Schreiber July 30, 1916. To them were born four children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving are the other three: Mrs. Eugene Bunnell of Avoca, Seth Schreiber of Avoca, and Mrs. Herbert Neve of Omaha, and two grandchildren: Edwina and Irmogene Bunnell, two sisters: Miss Carrie Schreiber of Chicago, and Mrs. Mary Curtis of Mitchell, South Dakota.

On December 21, 1927, Mr. Schreiber had a stroke of paralysis which left him bedfast the past 20 months. Monday morning he suffered a second stroke and death relieved him early Tuesday morning.

Fred Schreiber spent the greater part of his life in and around Avoca, following farming until a few years ago. He had many friends, was well liked by all who knew him, honest and fair in his dealing with his fellow man. For more than a year and a half he has been helpless and a constant sufferer. His daughters did all that could be done to make his last days as comfortable as possible.
