AVOCA - Funeral service for Chris Berg, 99, a resident of Salem Lutheran Nursing Home in Elk Horn will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Shelby Lutheran Church in Shelby with the Rev. Dale Jenson officiating.

Mr. Berg died Jan. 28 at Salem Lutheran Nursing Home.

He was born in Sonderbork, Denmark and immigrated from Denmark in 1925. He previously lived in Shelby, moving to Elk Horn in 1997. He was a farmer for most of his lifetime, and after retiring from farming ran Berg's Radiator Repair shop for 15 years. He was a member of Shelby Lutheran Church.

Mr. Berg was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella, in 1957 and his second wife, Mary, in 1983. He and Mary had been married 18 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Epp of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Kenneth and wife, Betty of Shelby, Donald of San Diego, Calif., and Melvin and wife, Bonnie of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 8 at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery.
