FRED W. RUSSMANN 1884-1948

Last rites for Fred W. Russmann, 63, who died at his home near Arion following a heart attack last Sunday, June 1, were held from the Blust-Berthusen Funeral Home in Avoca this afternoon (Thursday) at 3:30 pm. Burial was in Graceland cemetery here.

Fred Russmann, a son of John Chris Russmann and his wife Margaret Lippold was born in Pleasant township on September 26, 1884, and died at his home near Arion, Arizona, at the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 5 days.

Fred grew up in the Avoca neighborhood and farmed in this community until March of 1941 when he moved to Crawford County where he had since made his home.

He was married to Mary Scott on June 25, 1905. This union was blessed with seven children. One son, Oscar, preceded his father in death.

He is survived by five sons: Paul and Fred of Walnut; Dean of Arion Glen of Phoenix, Arizona; Lawrence and a daughter, Margaret at home. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. H. H. Rock and Miss Vena Russmann of Avoca; Mrs. Robert Paine of Berkley, California; three brothers: Herman, Adolph and Albert all of Avoca.
