MRS. JAMES WILSON 1849-1928

Maria a. Hammond was born at Rehoboth, Ohio, October 28, 1849 and died at her home in Avoca, Tuesday, June 5, 1928, aged 78 years, 7 months and seven days.

She was the daughter of W.G. and Mary E. Hammond. October 12, 1872, she was united in marriage to James Wilson at Marysville, Mo. To this union were born five children of whom two, Orrin F, and Dora M. Wilson, have preceded her in death.
Surviving her are the three children: Mrs. Cora Patterson and Oley M. Wilson both of Avoca and Mrs. Rose Best of Shelby, who with the husband are left to mourn the departure of a faithful wife and a kind and loving mother. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Alice M. Wilson of Avoca and Leo W. Best of Shelby, Iowa.

Mrs. Wilson united with the Methodist church at Rehoboth, Ohio, when a young girl, later her membership was transferred to the M.E. church at Avoca, and when that church consolidated with the Presbyterian church of this place, she automatically also became a member. She was a most faithful attendant and seldom missed either a morning or evening service.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon from the Presbyterian church. Interment in the Avoca cemetery. Rev. H.E. Kilmer conducted the services.

Six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wilson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
