At Loeminster, Massachusetts, on November 24, 1830, Mrs. Jane Leach, mother of H. E. Leach, was born and Thursday, November 24, 1927, Mrs. Leach celebrated her 97th birthday. Several of her neighbors and friends called to congratulate her.

Grandma Leach as she is more familiarly known, came to Avoca in 1883 and has since made her home in this city. She has been totally blind for 60 years. During all these she has been one of the most cheerful mothers one could find anywhere. She has looked on the bright side of her darkness and loves her neighbors and friends and has grandmothered half the grown-ups of the town.

Grandma Leach has enjoyed very good health all these years, but at this writing she is very ill with a severe cold and her frail little body is very weak.
