William Siemers Rites Held Thursday
Veteran of World War 1 Died in Muscatine Hospital

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2:30 pm at the George Wittich Funeral Home in Muscatine and services well be held today (Thursday) at the First Lutheran church in Avoca at 2 pm for William F. Siemers, 48, who passed away at the Bellevue hospital in Muscatine last Sunday after a short illness.

Rev. Joseph Gerit will officiate at the Avoca services. Interment will be in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Siemers was born on July 23, 1895, in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, the son of William C. and Sophie Kammamm Siemers. When he was seventeen he began his banking career with a bank at Baxter, Iowa, and then joined the United States Army in World War I. He was overseas with the 88th division as a sergeant in the medical department. After the end of the war he became associated with a Des Moines bank, where he was employed a short time before going to Muscatine where he served as Assistant Cashier and Trust Officer at the time of his death.

Her was married to Meta A. Seiffert on June 18, 1927, at Avoca, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Edward H. Bitzer post, American Legion and the Elks lodge.

Mr. Siemers is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann at home, one brother, Henry of Sheboygan county, Wisconsin; two sisters: Mrs. Sophia Jost of Cleveland, Ohio and Mrs. Lillie Boeldt of Sheboygan and his mother, Mrs. Sophie Siemers of Sheboygan.

Preceding him in death were his wife, his father and one sister.
